CHERYL COLE and KATY PERRY are grown women but they still have a thing for kids’ dolls.

Geordie singer Chezza has sent her pal the ONE DIRECTION dolls as an early gift for her birthday later this month.

It’s a play on a running joke between the singers since Katy has made no secret of her love for the 1D boys.

A source said: “Cheryl and Katy have become close since they appeared on The GRAHAM NORTON Show.

“Cheryl’s been busy with her tour so she wanted to make sure she sent a present well in advance and let Katy know she was thinking of her.

“She knows what a big fan Katy is of the boys and how she has a major crush on all five of them so she knew Katy would love the dolls.”

Chezza also sent the US star a gold cat charm for her favourite bracelet, which Katy had shown to her while they were backstage.

Katy displayed her passion for One Direction on the build-up to the MTV Video Music Awards last month.

Before the ceremony, held in LA, she tweeted: “If One Direction don’t perform on the VMAs I am gonna jump off this ledge!”

When the day finally came, she planted a kiss on NIALL HORAN and HARRY STYLES’ lips after she presented them with their Best Pop Video award, one of three they won on the night.

Katy left her dolls at home on Saturday night while she went to the Night Of Too Many Stars charity event in New York.

She posed on the red carpet in a low-cut black patterned dress before performing on stage.

Meanwhile, in Manchester, her Geordie pal was once again on a tear-up with boyfriend TRE HOLLOWAY, following her gig at the MEN Arena.

They decided against wearing colour co-ordinated outfits this time round. Cheryl opted for a red dress while Tre went for the English country gentlemen look, with a flat cap and matching pocket handkerchief.

Fingers’ crossed he didn’t try to shoot Jack Duckworth’s pigeons while he was in that neck of the woods.
